Joanne Kowalski, PAg – Regional Crops Specialist

Joanne graduated from the U of S College of Agriculture with a BSA and an MSc. in crop science and agriculture extension, focusing on the adoption of conservation practices in Saskatchewan.  She has worked in various roles as Research Associate at the University of Saskatchewan, as an Agrologist and Communications Manager for the Saskatchewan Forest Centre, and as Development Consultant for a private consulting company.  Her strong farm background and ties to the farming community will enhance her work for the Ministry as she assists producers with production inquiries and knowledge transfer activities.

Cyril Laforge, PAg - Regional Farm Business Management Specialist

In 1972, Cyril received a B.Sc. in agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan with a major in Agricultural Economics and a minor in Animal Science. In 1991, after passing the Canadian Securities Exam, Cyril became a licensed commodity and stock broker. Cyril is bilingual and has worked in farm management and agri-business development since 1972. Cyril can provide information so farm clients can adopt progressive farm business management practices and strategies. He also provides advice on succession issues and helps agri-businesses and farmers access planning services and training.

Linda Hunt, AAg – Regional Forage Specialist

Linda has a BSc. in agriculture specializing in range and pasture management.  She has a wide range of experience acquired while working for the Alberta Research Council, Alberta Public Lands, and as a Municipal Conservation Technician for Beaver County Alberta.  Most recently, she operated as a private consultant in Alberta.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in range management, environmentally sustainable farming, and delivery of extension programming.  Linda provides forage information, services and technical advice to farmers, ranchers and industry throughout the Prince Albert region.

Jessica Podhordeski, PAg - Regional Livestock Specialist

Jessica has a B.Sc. in agriculture with a major in animal science from the University of Saskatchewan.  Prior to joining the Ministry of Agriculture in 2008, Jessica worked for Sask Pork in the area of Agriculture Education.  Jessica also worked in Livestock Branch, prior to joining Regional Services Branch in 2010.  Jessica enjoys working with producers to provide information on production, nutrition and management to help grow and improve the efficiency of their operations.

Carissa Nye - Regional Services Representative

Carissa Nye joined our Regional Services Branch in November as the Regional Services Representative. Carissa was raised on a farm in the Melville area and has worked with government since 1993. She comes from the Ministry of Environment, and brings experience in administration, and client service. Carissa provides assistance to the Regional Specialists as well as front-line service in the Prince Albert Regional office.

Jamie Dutka - Administrative Support

Jamie grew up on a farm in the Melfort area. She brings to the office strong customer service skills from her employment with Prince Albert Tourism as well previous government experience from time with Ministry of Environment. Jamie provides administrative support, on a part-time basis, for the Prince Albert Regional Services Office.
