Diana Dunlop, Regional Crops Specialist
Diana Dunlop is a recent graduate from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Systems and a minor in Entomology. She has worked the last two summers as an Entomology Research Technician at the U of M as well as a summer with a private crops research farm. Diana has a special interest in entomology, both crops and livestock pests. She also has hands on experience in agriculture as her family grain farms near the village of Dunrea, MB. She is looking forward to working with producers, colleagues and the industry to discuss agricultural issues in crop production and assist with locally applied research.
Shankar Das, PAg - Regional Farm Business Management Specialist
Shankar brings an interesting mix of education and experience to Saskatchewan Agriculture. He has a M.Sc. in cereals from the University College of Wales in the United Kingdom and a PhD from the University of Guelph in alfalfa genetics and breeding. In 2007, Shankar decided to continue his education and completed an MBA on bio-economy at the University of Saskatchewan. He has worked for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the National Research Council and in the private sector with Back-Track Investigations. He was also a biotechnology consultant and has spent time as a professor at the University level
Sarah Sommerfeld, PAg - Regional Forage Specialist
Sarah has spent most of her life in the Outlook area and lives with her family on a farm south of Broderick. In 2002, Sarah earned a bachelor of science degree with distinction, majoring in animal science, from the University of Saskatchewan. Sarah began working with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture as an intern agrologist in the Outlook Regional Office. Prior to joining the Regional Services Branch, Sarah worked with the Irrigation Branch as an Irrigation Agrologist. Sarah's roots in the Outlook community and background in agriculture will be a valuable asset to producers in the region. Aside from farming, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, working outside and relaxing at the lake.
Travis Peardon, AAg - Regional Livestock Specialist
Travis has a B.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan, with a major in agriculture economics. He has extensive experience as a cow-calf producer and backgrounding feedlot operator. His speciality is economic analysis of beef operations and identifying low cost management strategies.
Lorraine Redden – Regional Services Representative
Lorraine comes from a mixed farming background where she grew up on a farm close to the Gardiner Dam/Diefenbaker Lake area. She is currently still involved in mixed farming with her husband near Macrorie. Lorraine has been employed by Agriculture in various capacities since May of 1981. She has also worked as a Customer Service Rep with the Ministry of Environment.
