Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program (FRWIP)

The $6 million Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program along with the $9 million that was contributed by the federal government, under AgriRecovery, will assist farmers and ranchers to develop secure water supplies in Southwest Saskatchewan:

emergency water supplies for short term demands,
permanent on-farm water supplies; and,
the establishment of wells to serve communities over the long-term.

The emergency component of this program will provide some immediate access to water while permanent projects, such as wells and pasture pipelines are being developed.

Two other on-going components beyond the emergency funding, include:

an on-farm component for wells and buried pipelines, and
a community well component.

		News Release - May 1, 2008 - DETAILS ANNOUNCED FOR WATER PROGRAM The Government of Saskatchewan released the details of the $6 million Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program (FRWIP) today.

		June 14, 2008 - FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO HELP SASKATCHEWAN FARMERS AND RANCHERS AFFECTED BY DROUGHT The Government of Canada continues to stand up for farmers and ranchers by providing up to $9 million in financial assistance to farmers in southwest Saskatchewan affected by years of drought. The announcement was made today by David Anderson, Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills-Grasslands, on behalf of the federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz.
