Growing Forward
Did You Know?

Built at an initial capital cost of $173-million, the synchrotron is one of the largest science projects in Canadian history.

Growing Forward is a commitment to Canada's agriculture sector that's focused on achieving results, reflects input from across the sector, and  delivers programs that are simple, more effective and tailored to local needs.

Governments are investing $1.3 billion over five years into Growing Forward programs. The funding represents $330 million more than the Agricultural Policy Framework (APF) and is cost-shared on a 60:40 basis between the Government of Canada and the provincial and territorial governments.

Non-BRM programs focus on helping farmers and producers build their business by, supporting innovation, commercialization and sustainability, and enabling profitability. Key non-BRM program areas will include water programming, farm and value-added business development, environment, science and innovation, food safety, traceability and biosecurity.

Growing Forward's new Business Risk Management (BRM) suite replaces the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization program with new programs that are more responsive for farmers. BRM programs help farmers and producers manage and mitigate risk by providing insurance, disaster relief and security against income losses. BRM programming includes AgriStability, AgriRecovery, AgriInvest and Crop Insurance (AgriInsurance).
