Monitoring On-Farm Food SafetyJanuary 2008 On-farm food safety is becoming increasingly important. Since 1997, national producer organizations have been developing on-farm food safety programs. In 2001, the Canadian On-Farm Food Safety Program was set up. It is administered through the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and funded through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Canadian Food Safety and Food Quality Program. This program allows national producer organizations to develop strategies and tools to educate producers on the implementation of on-farm food safety programs. Each national producer organization develops an industry specific on-farm food safety program which can be used by producers to implement the program. On-farm food safety is industry led and voluntary for each national producer group. Below is a list of some organizations with On-Farm Food Safety Programs.
